Tingathe Graduates 85 from Tingathe Geni Program

Yesterday was an exciting day for Tingathe because we celebrated the graduation of 85 participants from the Tingathe Geni Program. The graduation ceremony took place at our Mtandire community office in Lilongwe, and it was a very joyous event.

Among the graduates were groups of women and young individuals who are currently involved in or aspiring to establish their businesses. These ambitious individuals have completed a 6-week comprehensive training program, covering essential topics such as personal leadership, business management, financial literacy (money management), sexual reproductive health and rights, as well as human rights knowledge and skills.

The training program consists of an 18-session module designed to empower peri-urban communities with the necessary skills to thrive and significantly increase their income. The focus extends to equipping these groups with knowledge and expertise in the production of charcoal briquettes and cooking oil. Tingathe supports these groups by providing access to machinery at our community offices, enabling them to kick-start the production of goods that not only yield immediate returns but also positively impact the ecology of the community.

At Tingathe, witnessing the participants apply the concepts learned from the program is very satisfying. Grace Chizimba, one of the participants, expressed this sentiment during her speech at the graduation ceremony. On behalf of her fellow graduates, Grace assured us of their readiness to actively contribute to the development of their communities and our country by applying the acquired knowledge in their day-to-day activities.

We take immense pride in seeing women and youth actively involved in the development of their communities, and we are committed to tirelessly working towards empowering them, along with children from peri-urban communities. Our goal is to encourage active participation in activities that align with the country’s Agenda 2063.

Congratulations to all the graduates! Your achievements have filled us with pride, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact you will continue to make in your communities. As Tingathe, we will continue in our efforts to support and empower individuals, ensuring they play a crucial role in shaping a brighter future for our nation.
