Today, we had a wonderful time with our Children Life Skills participants at both Njewa and Tingathe One Stop centers. The children took part in a session on Career and Goal Setting, which helps them think about their future, dream big, and learn how to set goals and make plans to achieve them—even when they face challenges in life.

To show the children that everyone goes through different stages in life and that they can achieve their goals, we invited four young role models to speak to them. Two were third-year students from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), and the other two were graduates from Salima Technical College. We chose speakers from both public universities and technical colleges to show that there are multiple paths to success. Not all children will attend a public university, and pursuing a career through vocational education can also be very rewarding.
During their talk, the students and graduates shared their personal journeys—what helped them reach university or complete their vocational training. They emphasized the importance of setting goals, explained what career planning involves, and encouraged the children to believe in themselves and keep working hard.
We believe these sessions have inspired our children to dream big, even though many come from peri-urban areas where social opportunities are limited. We are grateful to all the students and graduates who took the time to speak with our children and motivate them to aim high in their lives.
