Yesterday, the Tingathe team had the privilege of participating as an exhibitor at the opening of the iconic Lake of Stars Malawi Arts Festival, held at the picturesque Fish Eagle Bay Lodge in Nkhotakota. This year’s festival is particularly special, marking Malawi’s 60th anniversary of independence and the 20th anniversary of the festival’s inception in 2004.

At our booth, we showcased some of the innovative and sustainable products that embody our commitment to environmental conservation and community empowerment. Among the highlights were our eco-friendly charcoal briquettes made from rice and groundnut husks. These briquettes provide a sustainable alternative to traditional wood charcoal, helping to combat deforestation and mitigate climate change in Malawi.

In addition, we featured our durable interlocking bricks made from lime, promoting sustainable construction practices. Unlike traditional bricks, which often require the cutting down of trees, our lime bricks offer a greener, more durable option for building.

Another centerpiece of our exhibition was the stunning array of Malawian-made tailoring and fashion designs, made by talented young people from our vocational training program. These designs celebrate Malawian artistry and represent the economic empowerment of the artisans who created them.

Our participation in the Lake of Stars festival perfectly aligned with this year’s focus on promoting environmental conservation and celebrating Malawian arts and products. The festival serves as a platform for artistic expression, honouring the rich cultural heritage and history of our nation.

As we look forward to the main celebrations of the festival, which begin today, September 6, 2024, and will conclude on September 8, 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to share our vision and products with the festival attendees.
